Hello! I’m Julie Olson. Welcome to my website! Here’s a little bit about my background in education…
MY TEACHING EXPERIENCE
I retired as a public school librarian after completing 36 years as an educator. My students ranged from preschool through 8th grade, as well as adults. My classroom experience was in preschool, kindergarten, and first grade. Twenty-five of my teaching years were spent in a variety of beautiful, K-8 library media centers in Arkansas and Wisconsin. My experience with adult education was primarily professional development through the Arch Ford Educational Cooperative in Arkansas. My online teaching experience was also for adults, and it covered professional development in the areas of technology and research, through PBS Teacherline in association with the Arkansas Educational Television Network.
MY TEACHING PHILOSOPHY
I believe it’s important to work hard and pray hard, read a lot, smile a lot, hug a lot…and try to have a little fun, too!
A FEW “SHINING TEACHER MOMENTS”
Two of my schools gave me the honor of being their “Teacher of the Year,” and in 2005, I earned my National Board for Professional Teaching Certification in Library Media. I was also honored to gather and prep background information that helped my last elementary school reach National Blue Ribbon School status in 2019.
